Four Bullets and a Giveaway

• Do we need a gaming console? So far we just play games on the computer. The boys find all kinds of games to play for free online. But Ben's pining for a DS or an XBox or SOMETHING because all his friends have them. I'd like a Wii, because it has a physical component and is unlike anything they could play on the computer. But Brian's not so sure about that. Since I'm the person who plays the least video games in this house, I'm not getting very far convincing him. Thoughts? Advice?

• The boys are home from school today. We're going to color eggs and make brownies. Should be fun, once they get over the shock of being asked to stop playing computer games.

• It's Friday and 1) Brian's coming home from work early, 2) we have a babysitter tonight (thanks Dee!), so we can go out to eat with some friends from out of state, and 3) my mother's coming over tomorrow so Brian and I can run and errand or ... something. Then the Easter Bunny will be here to replenish our supply of chocolate. Oh and let's not forget the celebration of Jesus rising from the dead. Looks like we're in for a great weekend.

• I'm giving away a copy of Braincandy's Smell My World DVD over here, and will accept entries until Monday at midnight. What are you waiting for? It's a cute video. Go enter!

  • I'm not a big fan of 'screen time' and I limit our 6 year old to an hour in the morning and an hour in the evening of any type of screen, which I still think is too much. But I'm a huge fan of the Wii. He plays Lego Star Wars and runs and jumps enough to work up a sweat. I prefer that he spend his screen time in front of the Wii and it was worth every penny. Even Grandma plays it-she loves to bowl.

  • The only games Lillianna and I play are on the Webkinz website. That wii thing looks interesting but I wouldn't want it in my house.I guess I'm not very helpful....sorry.

Good for you for being able to go out with your husband. Last Saturday I came home from work at 2pm and decided that since Lil was at a sleepover,Rich and I would go out for dinner with one of the three gift certificates we have. I was so excited until I pulled into the parking lot and realized his car was home 4 1/2 hours early and Rich was home puking! So much for dinner!!
    On that note.....Happy Easter!

  • I go back and forth on time in front of a screen (she says as her two girls slip away in the tractor beam of Little Bill). Time for a walk.

  • My sister-in-law bought a Wii under the "physical activity" spell, too. Then the kids figured out that they can swing the Wii-mote around just as easily with their behinds parked on the house. The two youngest can take it or leave it, but the oldest is a Wii addict already.

  • Too bad I missed the drawing, but I hope the weekend was as wonderful as it sounds.

  • Kris, thanks for checking out my blog and letting me know that I won a free dairy product. I will email you my address. Love your blog. I would like a Wii as I think it would make us more active.

  • I'm not a big fan of "screen time" (as scissorbill put it) either, although I have been known to let the kids have some every day. But I will admit that the wii is pretty darn cool. Even little ones can get into it (my four year old can bowl better on the wii than in real life because he doesn't have to weight of the bowling ball, and has so much fun doing it!) We don't have one (expensive!) but I think that down the line we will - great for all ages!
